Yoshiki at the SF Symphony

Yoshiki Hayashi charmed the crowd performing his classical masterpieces with his string sextet, accompanied by light effects and a wide LED screen at the San Francisco Symphony on April 28, 2014. With a guest appearance by his best friend and main vocalist from X-Japan, Toshi, the crowd responded with a standing ovation as the performance came to an end.

After performing in Costa Mesa, California on April 25, San Francisco marked the second stop of the Yoshiki Classical World Tour. Yoshiki will perform in Mexico City, Moscow, Berlin, Paris, London, Shanghai, Beijing, Bangkok, Taipei, and end his tour in Japan’s Tokyo and Osaka.

Famous for being a legendary Japanese visual kei performer, Yoshiki is best known as the leader and drummer of his heavy rock band, X-Japan. Visual kei (visual style) is a Japanese music style which is often characterized by make-up, interesting hair, and costumes.

X- Japan captured the heart of loyal fans with Yoshiki’s original compositions and the band’s unique style. They reached breakthrough success in the 1980s filling up the 55,000 seat Tokyo Dome multiple times. Although X-Japan broke up in 1997, the band reunited in 2007.

Yoshiki currently resides in Los Angeles, where he purchased Extasy Recording Studios. He is involved with many American and global projects, such as movie soundtracks and was asked to composed the theme song for the 69th Golden Globe Awards. Yoshiki is also involved in charity work and founded the Yoshiki Foundation America, a California non-profit, public benefit corporation in 2010.
