Are you feeling lost and confused after binge-watching an amazing Korean drama? Well, look no further because Miss Hammurabi is en route to being the most popular K-Drama of the summer. With 5% viewership on its first episode, which is high for a cable drama, Miss Hammurabi‘s ratings are sure to steadily rise as the plot thickens.
The drama series is based on the novel written by Moon Yoo Seok and features different court cases from the perspective of courtroom judges, which distinguishes itself against other legal Korean dramas such as Remember. Some people believe that the setup may be similar to Judge vs. Judge which aired back in 2017, but Miss Hammurabi is definitely going to be a lighter, more upbeat series.
The casting is a little surprising because Go Ara is a 28-year-old veteran actress with several leading roles under her belt while this is one of INFINITE member L’s first leading roles. However, the match seems promising because the casting is similar to Something In The Rain, where Son Ye Jin was distinguished actress and it was Jung Hae In’s first lead role.
Go Ara plays a feisty, rookie judge named Park Cha O Reum who dreams of making the legal system a better place, finding justice for the poor, and serving justice to criminals. L’s character, Im Ba Reun, acts as her foil, adhering to all the social norms and bringing her back to Earth. The two are assigned to work with Judge Han Se Sang (Sung Dong Il), a veteran judge of 20 years, who Go Ara causes trouble for on her first day of work!
Fans of Reply 1994 are looking forward to the father-daughter reunion between Go Ara and Sung Dong Il for sure!
The secondary storyline involving the supporting characters Lee Do-yeon (Lee Elijah) and Jung Bo-wang (Ryu Deok-hwan) also looks highly promising. Elijah’s character is a high-strung, hard worker who is on top of everything and provides the other characters with information in a precise, robotic fashion. Deok-hwan’s character is the flirty coworker that everyone adores and who predict will have a love line with Elijah’s character.
