Korean Artists find Innovative ways to Perform amidst Social Distancing

Many Korean artists have found new, innovative ways to flow with the times. They have moved to the internet to give fans a concert experience while remaining safe at home. Kwon Soon Kwan, SORAN, and NCT DREAM, for example, have all held concerts for their fans online which have received rave reviews across the board.

Korean indie duo No Reply’s vocal, Kwon Soon Kwan, had to cancel his concert due to the recent outbreak but proposed a different solution to the problem. He decided to hold an online music showcase for his 2nd regular album, ‘Connected.’ On April 12th, he broadcasted his livestream on YouTube where he performed all the tracks on his newest album. The stage was divided into three sets and he added high-quality performance production, making his online, streamed showcase stand out even more. Kwon Soon Kwan bonded with his fans during the livestream as well. During a part of the online showcase, he communicated with his fans through ‘To You Challenge,’ the challenge for his title song. Many other musicians have participated in the challenge with him as well.

K-band, SORAN, had to cancel their annual spring theater concert “Perfect Day” due to COVID-19, but they moved to a different approach by having an online concert on YouTube. The concert was called, “SORAN PERFECT Streaming” which aired live on April 26th. They performed the online concert in the same small theater in which they were supposed to perform originally, giving fans the same feel as if they were attending live in person. The group uploaded a video message and complementary live clips to their social media according to tradition. SORAN also added to their program newly arranged versions of their songs like ‘Cherry Blossoms Are Falling‘ to give fans more excitement in the livestream.
