Surl’s hidden track that became a single

K-indie band Surl is back! On July 22, the band released their newest single “Beside”, their first comeback after releasing the well-received song “Don’t Say No” featuring rap superstar Jay Park.

“Beside” has special significance to the band as it originally appeared in demo form as a hidden track on the group’s first mini album. Its massive popularity eventually convinced the group to rearrange and officially release the song!

Vocalist Seol Hoseung considers the song to also be something listeners can easily identify with, as the song’s story is likely something they have experienced themselves. The song’s lyrics talk about the feelings one experiences when they have a crush; and those feelings are well expressed in both the song’s genre and music video. The song’s ambient dream pop is paired with fantastical animation, a collaborative work with a Korean independent illustrator

It’s a song sure to captivate listeners everywhere, so make sure to check out the music video below and enjoy!
