KPOP-TV’S STAFF PICKS OF 2021

Was it just us or did 2021 go by faster than expected?! Here are some of the tunes released this year that got us through the good, bad, and everything in between. Leave a comment below with your favorites from this year. Music start!

TWICE  – “Alcohol-Free”

Twice’s “Alcohol Free” breaks former taboos about drinking in the best way possible with this refreshing and sweet summer bop that leaves you craving for more.

CIX – “Cinema”

CIX reinvents themselves by leaving their darker electronic/hip hop sound behind and instead embraces a softer retro synth-pop to great effect. The song conjures the feeling of lovestruck nostalgia, as its lyrics use cinematic analogies to detail a youthful relationship. CIX really lets their vulnerability show through their performance — making this one of their best title tracks so far.

WJSN – “너의 세계로(Let Me In)”

Add this to your playlist for major summer vibes and happy feelings!

시그니처(cignature) – “Boyfriend”

A calming song that shows cignature’s versatility.

A.C.E – “Down” (feat. Grey)

Upbeat and chill, this is the perfect song that matches our mood of wanting to sleep and dance at the same time.

Dreamcatcher – “Odd Eye”

“Odd Eye” shows the reality of how we as humans are corrupted by society and that what we think of as utopia is only an illusion because perfection doesn’t exist, rather we should find happiness in ourselves instead.

TXT – “Frost”

We can’t get enough of how well TXT embodied the feelings of anxiety and losing control — truly one of their best performances.

LOONA (HeeJin, Kim Lip, JinSoul, Yves)  – “Not Friends” (Prod. RYAN JHUN(라이언전))

“Not Friends” really shows a different side of LOONA through a new subunit performance. Kim Lip was able to show her growth as an artist by working on the lyrics.

ONF – “누워서 세계 속으로 (Trip Advisor)”

Such a catchy song! ONF fans (Fuses) from around the world helped create this video with ONF by sending in footage from their home country to be used in this video. It’s very creative and nicely edited.

CL – “Let It”

“Let It” takes us back to the sound of 2NE1 while showcasing CL’s creative freedom on her long-awaited solo album. Fun fact: Bom and Dara recorded vocals on an unreleased version of this song. We would love to see 2NE1 reunited once again!
