The highly anticipated comeback from powerhouse BLACKPINK has finally dropped! After a 14-months, the four member girl group from YG Entertainment came back with their single “How You Like That,” released on June 26th to the delight of many waiting fans.
In the days leading up to the music video release, starting from June 10th, YG shared a series of photos and videos to get the fans pumped for the comeback. On June 21st, a concept teaser video dropped with all four members present, followed by group concept photos in the following days. YG even prepared BLACKPINK’s live broadcast event which broadcasted an hour before the comeback was released. The music video finally came out on June 26th and set a new record on YouTube for the biggest-ever YouTube Premiere, peaking at 1.66 million viewers. After just 24 hours, the video reached 84.6 million views on YouTube.
In addition to their comeback and live broadcast, the group announced their new reality show! On June 13th, teasers of their upcoming reality show, “24/365 with BLACKPINK.” Fans got to vote on the title of the show and the girls picked their favorite name out of the ones fans had picked. The program’s trailer shows the girls sitting at a table talking with one another, updating each other and the fans on their live streams. Each member shared what they would like to share with their fans during the show. For example, Jennie said she wanted to vlog her daily life for fans to see, while Rose was excited to show fans the album recording process. They suggested additional ideas like singing, sharing hobbies together, and learning the TikTok dances Lisa has been posting then having her rate them.
With news of BLACKPINK’s comeback came even more exciting news: The girls would perform on American program “The Tonight Show: At Home Edition,” hosted by Jimmy Fallon. It would be the girls’ first time on the show and one of their first stage performances for their new song. Jimmy Fallon announced the big news at the end of his June 18th show. Since there was no live studio audience, the live performance was a bit different, but the girls still made it a compelling appearance, even adding candle lighting in the front of the stage to create a scene for fans to look at.
BLACKPINK has given their fans an array of new content to look forward to since their “Kill This Love” which came out 14-months ago.
