Last weekend the KPOP World Festival Bay Area Preliminaries were held at the Samsung campus in San Jose. Groups from all over Northern California came together to compete for a chance to move on to the final round in Changwon, South Korea, where they will compete against groups from other countries. This is an annual event that unites KPOP fans and showcases talent from all over the world. Judges this year included professional dancer and choreographer, Amber Divina, our very own VJ Eden, Sarah Kim; co-founder of local KPOP dance cover group, Eclipse, dance instructor Lucy Yu, and singer, Alex Reid who made history by becoming the first Black KPOP idol as a member of the group Rania. This year’s Bay Area Preliminaries were held in collaboration with KPOP-TV and the San Francisco Korean Consulate, who helped make this entire event come together. The hour long TV special of the Bay Area Preliminaries of the World KPOP Cover Festival will be aired on July 26 at 11pm on the KPOP-TV Entertainment Network. KPOP-TV is the largest KPOP Broadcaster in the United States with multiple media outlets covering 5 million households alone on Terrestrial Broadcast. Tune in on Friday, July 26th to see some cool performances and of course to see who won!
