Thien Pham is the Vietnamese-American author of Family Style: Memories of an American from Vietnam. He tells the story of his immigration to the U.S. and subsequent experiences of growing up between two worlds through immersive drawings. The Read Carpet’s host, Gemma, interviewed him, asking questions about the story’s central relationship with cuisine, how one can be optimistic when enduring a harrowing journey as a refugee, and achieving the American Dream, in aspects both big and small.
