Vanessa Len is the best-selling Australian author who first sat with us when her debut young adult novel, Only A Monster came out. That book made quite a splash early 2022 and now she has returned to discuss its exciting sequel, Never A Hero. In this new book, we continue the journey of a girl who discovered she’s part monster, which means she can steal time from humans to transport herself to another era, and she has unintentionally set off a series of events that changes the fates of everyone around her.
We knew each other before this…
Never a Hero by Vanessa Len
Host of The Read Carpet, Gemma, dove into several topics on both the story and the author herself in this interview about the second book, Never A Hero. They talk about the success of the series and how it has been translated into several languages around the world. They also discuss the fascinating journey in the book — how the main character is essentially starting over after the events of the first book, but no one else remembers the past the way she does, plus all the new twists and reveals. Vanessa talks about how her background (she has Malaysian-Chinese and Maltese parents, and was born and raised in Australia) played a significant part in her writing too!
