K-Pop boy group TRENDZ recently released another single album and it is worth taking a closer look. Until now, all of TRENDZ’s music was part of their Blue Set series, which helped them establish their reputation as performance super rookies. Now the boys of TRENDZ are on a new journey to show us even more sides of themselves, always looking to think outside the box and exceed expectations. Their latest single album, Still On My Way released in September, 2023 and features three upbeat tracks: “ven conmigo,” “MY WAY,” and “O.Y.E.”
Our KPOP-TV staff took a listen to this single album and here are our three favorite things about “Still On My Way.”
- The group participated in the making of the songs.
Members HANKOOK, ra.L, and YECHAN have their names in the credits for lyrics on both “ven conmigo” and “O.Y.E.” and ra.L and YECHAN are credited for the lyrics on their title track, “MY WAY.” This should come as no surprise to TRENDZ fans as the members have participated on a number of their previous tracks. We love to see a group who doesn’t just perform the music but gets involved in the tracks themselves!
- All the songs have positive messages.
The third song on this single album, “O.Y.E,” an abbreviation for “open your eyes,” has lyrics about finding your inner self and true value.
The opening track, “ven conmingo,” conveys a sense of hope and moving forward, but in a soothingly laid back way. The moombahton genre really suits the season, helping us to feel upbeat even when the colder months are upon us.
Then there is the title track, “MY WAY,” which is about determination and perseverance. It has that all-important message that there will always be negative points on your journey, but even if you fall, that failure can be your stepping stone to success. Lines like “we shine a light when the dark is here to sweep us” and “put your mind to it, I promise you are capable of all” provide that boost of encouragement that we all need now and then. The third thing we love about TRENDZ’s single album is their energy, which you can see in their music video for the title track, “MY WAY.” They even talk about it in their recent interview with KPOP-TV, saying that one of the things that makes TRENDZ special among K-Pop groups is how they put special effort into the energy they bring to the stage. Member LEON mentioned that creating this energy starts long before they even step foot on the stage. It includes a workout regimen and mental preparation to deliver a performance like theirs. We have to admire the way they honor their craft by paying attention to the details, and we think it really shows on stage.
